Some countries use propane in their cars and also biodiesel, this would mean that oil-producing countries would stop harassing other countries with exorbitant prices of fuel, the money of which could be going into funding violence, and corruption. Diesel is preferred over Petrol in India for two reasons that it is lesser expensive than Petrol, and because Diesel cars give better mileage, and this is true even though at first, it is the Diesel cars which cost more.
History of Fuel Efficiency in India
Now, let us look at the history of the need for fuel efficiency in India. At first in 1989, first Idle Indian emission limits were laid down. In translation this would mean, how long is the engine idle and how long is the driver leaving the drive or car on without driving? Therefore, guidelines to avoid the idle motor came out first, then came laws for no harm to the engine, and finally, laws for fewer emissions.
In the years, 1991 and 1992 the mass emission limits of both gasoline and diesel limits together were calculated. A study analyzed the same. Since the year 2k, the Indian government adopted European emission standards for both heavy and light four-wheelers.
Then came the national auto fuel policy, 2003. Further, the 2010 achievements of the Indian govt. were noted down. Next, there was the expert committee 2013 to draft the auto fuel policy. As of today, the law governing fuel in India is Bharat stage IV fuel for 2017, and Bharat stage fuel 2021.
What Is Bs2 And Bs3 Engine?
The green tribunal means to highlight that BS-2 has been banned in the National Capital Region. Diesel vehicles which are more than ten years old on roads were forbidden, and even outside NCT, these vehicles would play in no pollution zones, or in areas where vehicle density is less.
Those BS-II vehicles which transport petrol in these regions would also stop. This would come as a blow to automobile companies. BS 2 and BS 3 also include two-wheelers, three-wheelers, heavy-duty commercial vehicles, and all BS 3 compliant vehicles would be shut off.
